One of my favorite comics writers passed away on Monday. Tom Spurgeon put together a wonderful obituary for anyone interested.
I was a fan of Howard the Duck long before I discovered comics, my childhood taste in movies being only slightly worse than it is now. The original comic series is stupefyingly subversive compared to it’s contemporaries and a must read for anyone who wants to experience Marvel Comics at the moment they were last culturally relevant. Like a fly trapped in amber. During the Carter Administration.
The series was reprinted in one of those “Essential” black and white reprint books not too long ago, go check it out.
